Earlier this month, the Catholic Leadership Development team successfully hosted the 'Pathways to Catholic Leadership' information session. The session was held at the Nicholas Mancini Centre and was the first of many to follow.

Teachers from across the district gathered to explore the diverse leadership opportunities available within the HWCDSB, gaining valuable insights into the recently developed Catholic Leadership Development Program. The event aimed to empower educators to consider and pursue leadership roles within each of our Catholic schools.

The evening provided the chance for attendees to meet and interact with some of our leaders at HWCDSB, including Patrick Daly, Chairperson of the Board, and Dave Hansen, Director of Education. These leaders, along with others at various levels, generously shared their personal leadership journeys, offering firsthand accounts of the challenges and successes they encountered on their paths to leadership.

Daly, emphasized the importance of Catholic leadership, stating, "Clearly, everyone who serves within our Catholic school system has a role in giving witness to and promoting our Catholic identity. But those in leadership are called in a particular way. There is no question in my mind that, more than ever today, we need faith-filled, caring, compassionate, courageous leaders prepared to take risks and do whatever it takes to serve the students in our schools and to serve our Church."

The information session not only provided a comprehensive overview of the leadership landscape within the HWCDSB but also facilitated meaningful networking opportunities. Teachers had the chance to connect with leaders who have made significant contributions to Catholic education, fostering an environment of mentorship and collaborative learning.

The event underscored the HWCDSB's commitment to leadership development and demonstrated the importance of such sessions in shaping the future of Catholic education. Teachers who attended left inspired and equipped with the knowledge needed to consider and navigate their own leadership journeys within the board.

As a testament to the success of the evening, the HWCDSB extends its gratitude to all the teachers who participated in the 'Pathways to Catholic Leadership' event. The board looks forward to continuing its support for educators as they explore and embrace leadership roles, contributing to the ongoing excellence of Catholic education in our schools.

Another one of the components of the Catholic Leadership Development Program is "Catholic Leadership Development for Managers and Supervisors" the next session is being held on Tuesday December 12, 2023. In addition, there will be an open house/information session for all student teachers, currently fulfilling a placement with our board, taking place on Monday, December 4th, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm.
