Programmania Winners

On Wednesday, April 24, 2024, St. Jean de Brébeuf Catholic Secondary School hosted the annual Programmania, a prestigious computer competition organized by Business and Computer Department Heads from all seven secondary schools of the board. Celebrating its 37th year, the event saw its highest ever participation with fifty-five of the brightest young programmers from the board's schools.

The competition, a brainchild of 1987, featured complex programming challenges crafted by examiner Angelo Bellavia. Teachers and mentors watched with pride as students tackled these problems, demonstrating both critical thinking and coding prowess.

As the clock ticked down to the final seconds, students huddled around the scoreboard, eager to learn the outcome of their hard work. Scoring was rigorous, emphasizing both the accuracy of their solutions and the speed of execution. Medals were on the line, with the top three teams earning gold, silver, and bronze.

This year's competition saw St. John Henry Newman CSS clinch the top spot, followed by the host team, St. Jean de Brébeuf CSS, taking second, and St. Thomas More CSS rounding out the top three with a third place finish. The event not only highlighted the technical skills of the participants but also fostered a spirit of camaraderie and competitive excellence across the board’s schools.
