The Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board (HWCDSB) is thrilled to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our elementary school students who participated in the Ontario Skills Competition this year. The Skills Competition provides a valuable platform for students to demonstrate their talents and gain exposure to skilled trades and technologies, fostering future career possibilities.

This year, five dedicated teams from across the HWCDSB proudly represented us in various competitions, showcasing their skills in:
St. Thomas Catholic Elementary School: Technology (Grades 4-6 and 7-8)
St. David Catholic Elementary School: Lego Mechanical Engineering (Grades 4-6)
St. Paul Catholic Elementary School: Lego Mechanical Engineering (Grades 7-8)
St. John the Baptist Catholic Elementary School: Lego Robotics

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) for their ongoing support of skilled trades education within our schools. Their dedication plays a vital role in fostering student interest and preparing them for future career opportunities in these important fields.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the incredible team of teachers who coached these teams: Mrs. Fallis, Mrs. Davies, Mr. Rados, Mr. Hunt, and Ms. Viola. Their expertise, passion, and guidance were instrumental in preparing our students for success.

Finally, we acknowledge the unwavering support of the parents who cheered on our student participants throughout the competition. Their encouragement and dedication are a significant source of strength for our young learners, and we appreciate their partnership in their educational journey.

Congratulations to all our student participants! Regardless of the final outcome, their hard work, dedication, and competitive spirit are a testament to their potential. We are incredibly proud of each and every one of them!
