3rd World Day of Grandparents and Elderly
Grandparent with Chilld‘Honour Grandparents’

With a call to honour and never abandon grandparents, Pope Francis issues Message for 3rd World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on 23 July. The 86-year-old Pope instituted the Day in 2021, to be held the fourth Sunday in July, close to the feast of Jesus’ grandparents, Saints Joachim and Anne.

Acknowledging their “enduring faithfulness,” Chairperson Patrick Daly expressed thanks on behalf of the Hamilton-Wentworth Catholic District School Board to “all grandparents for their contribution to Catholic Education, and for the valuable Christian witness they provide to our children and youth.”
