Excitement filled the air at Marydale Park as over 8,000 students from more than 45 schools gathered for the thrilling Catholic Youth Organization’s annual elementary school cross-country meet! Throughout this electrifying week, around 800 spirited student athletes each day tackled 1 to 3 kilometer races across a breathtaking 35-acre park. The course wound along the scenic eastern shores of Lake Niapenco and through the lush Binbrook Conservation Area, offering a challenging yet picturesque route.
The Catholic Youth Organization has a rich tradition of fostering athletics at HWCDSB elementary schools. Beyond the annual meet, the C.Y.O. energized young athletes with their summer athletics camp for boys and girls aged 6-13. This camp featured a plethora of sports activities designed to keep children active and engaged through age-appropriate, fun-filled games.
